MISSION EMPOWERMENT - "Women Entrepreneurs for Gender Equality and Inclusive Economic Growth"

YOUTH CAN accomplished the training program in collaboration with Susta Rural Municipality to empower women entrepreneurs from 5 different wards of Susta. The workshop was designed to train the women entrepreneurs on Financial Literacy, Utility Payment and SIYB to ensure that they have every tools to boost their business. We are grateful to the trainers: Mr. Kishor Kuikel, Mr. Ramu Pandey and Mr. Jhabanath Khanal for facilitating the sessions during the program.
We are also thankful to Mr. Tek Narayan Upadhya (Chairman at Rural Municipality), Ms. Gita Chaudhary (Deputy Chairman at Rural Municipality), Mr. Buddha Poudyal (Chief Administrative Officer), Mr. Bishnu Prasad Dhakal (Administrative Officer) and to all the representatives from Susta Rural Municipality. And we express our thanks to all the dynamic participants and our volunteers who made this program a grand success.
1. PROCEEDINGS OF THE PROGRAM
The program was moderated by Ms. Bimala Neupane (Treasurer at YOUTH CAN). She welcomed all the program participants, facilitator, and attendees. And the program was chaired by Mr. Ramu Pandey (President at YOUTH CAN), followed by Chief Guest Mr. Buddha Poudyal (Chief Administrative Officer at Susta Rural Municipality) and Special Guest Mr. Bishnu Prasad Dhakal (Administrative Officer at Susta Rural Municipality)
The opening remark was delivered by Mr. Buddha Poudyal, Chief Administrative Officer at Susta Rural Municipality. In his opening address, Mr. Poudyal mentioned that empowering women through entrepreneurship is the best way to address the inequality issue. He also highlighted that Susta Rural Municipality has been organizing ample training program to women to make sure they are skilled enough to be independent and work for nation building.
Session I: Start and Improve your Business (SIYB)
In this session, the resource person Mr. Kishor Kuikel, discussed on the topic Start and Improve your Business (SIYB). During his session participants were informed regarding diverse dynamics of startups and the process of implementing business ideas into action. Different rapport building games were executed to make a comfortable learning experience to participants from different wards of Susta Rural Municipality. Under the session participants were divided into diverse groups to outline their ideas regarding business with the available resources in their area.
The session aimed to give the participants a brief information on starting their new business and improving it if they already own it.
Session II: Utility Payment and Basic Transactions
The second session was facilitated by Mr. Ramu Pandey, which provided an overview of using different utility payment gateways. The session hold information on how the participants can incorporate the online platform in their business and how to save time through online transactions. During the session different utility portal that are into existence in Nepal were made introduced to the participants so that they can use it as per their need.
Session III: Startup registration and Tax System
In this third session, the facilitator Mr. Jhaba Nath Khanal Adhikari initiated his discussion mentioning that every business should be registered under Nepal Government. He provided the information on the tax system of Nepal and delivered a brief process overview on startup registration. He also highlighted the different types of business and their own registration process.
Session IV: Financial Literacy
In this session, the facilitator Mr. Kishor Kuikel discussed on the topic Financial Literacy. He made the participants to work on to understand their financial income and expenses structures. This session was delivered to ensure every individual have the understanding of fund management and its dynamics with respect to economic, political, etc condition. During the session, he highlighted that with less capital too one can boost his/her business if he/she possess the fund management skill.
1.3 Interaction session
At the end, the participants put forward their queries which were responded by the facilitators. Even more a space was created through game where they could have the exchange of experience and knowledge within the participants.
The closing remark was provided by Mrs. Gita Chaudhary Deputy Chairman at Susta Rural Municipality. In her closing remarks, she expressed thanks to trainers, participants and YOUTH CAN. She also added that this program could help the women entrepreneurs to improve their business to some extent. She also mentioned that such training programs to empower women are always welcome and Susta Rural Municipality has also incorporated this kind of workshops in their annual work plan.
At the end, Mr. Ramu Pandey, President at YOUTH CAN appreciated the support of the Susta Rural Municipality in organizing very useful and much needed program. He also thanked and appreciated the efforts of facilitators, and all other involved in the successful organization of this program. He also extended his gratitude to the program participants for their sincere efforts, attention and fruitful interactive sessions that contributed greatly towards the success of the program.
